The project

La Villita Food Hall reimagines one of San Antonio's most historic gathering spaces as the first-ever food hall on the world-famous River Walk — an 18,500 square-foot, indoor/outdoor chef-driven destination at the intersection of San Antonio's cultural identity and one of America's most-visited urban entertainment districts.

The project is a partnership between Escalera Capital, the San Antonio-based developers who acquired the property in 2024, and Onset Hospitality, which leads vendor curation and ongoing operations.

Onset's role

We're curating a vendor lineup of San Antonio chef-driven concepts — explicitly not chains — designed to reflect the city's authentic, layered culinary identity: Tex-Mex, Mexican, BBQ, contemporary American, and the global influences that shape South Texas cuisine. The upstairs level will house eleven vendors anchored by two bars. We're also building the operating model, technology infrastructure, and event programming calendar.

The vision

La Villita has been a San Antonio gathering place for nearly a century. As a food hall, it becomes a continuous-daypart destination — equally relevant for River Walk visitors at lunch, locals at dinner, and the year-round calendar of cultural events that define San Antonio's downtown.
